Heart-Shaped Crayons

Heart-Shaped Crayons

If you have a lot of small and broken pieces of crayons sitting around, this is the perfect way to put them to use. This can be made as a gift for your children or your children can make them as Valentine’s Day gifts for their classmates. This can even be a Valentine’s Day activity that you could do with your children. This year, my two-year-son chose to make these heart crayons as a surprise Valentine’s Day gift for his sister.  He helped me peel the paper off the crayons and fill the molds.

Materials:
  • Broken pieces of crayons
  • Silicone mold
  • Cooling rack
Instructions:
1.       Preheat your oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

2.       Remove all the paper off the crayons and chop them into similar-sized pieces.

3.       Place the crayon pieces in the molds, about 2/3 full.
4.       Put the mold in the oven for approximately 6-8 min. Watch carefully for the wax to melt slightly but not completely turn into liquid.
5.       Let the crayons cool in the mold for half hour.

6.       Turn the mold over to release the new crayons, and let it cool completely on a cooling rack.

  1. I love this idea. Amazing

  2. Where did you buy the mold?

    1. I cannot remember where I bought this exact mold, but I have seen silicone heart molds at Bulk Barn, The Real Canadian Superstore, Ikea, and even some Dollaramas in the past. Just be sure to check that the mold is infact made of silicone, and not rubber.
