Recently I came across Organique Basket on Facebook, and was quite eager to learn more about what this unique online boutique-style food delivery service had to offer. Organique Basket is a small business that strives to support local farmers by building a menu consisting of mostly locally grown farm fresh and certified organic foods. Although Organique Basket mostly builds its baskets using food grown in Ontario, it also features certified organic foods that are difficult to grow in Ontario (such as bananas and kiwi). Therefore these fruits are imported from farms around the world.
Here is How it Works…
You are given the option to purchase a small (8 items) or large (13 items) vegetable, fruit, or vegetable and fruit basket. Each basket consists of either farm fresh or certified organic products, depending on your preference. My favourite part is the option to custom-build your basket choosing items that you know that your family will love.

Last Friday I placed my first order. Instead of simply choosing a basket, I decided to place a custom order of the following 8 organic items: red beets, spinach, kale, mushrooms, red peppers, pears, strawberries, and kiwis.
Before placing my order I had a lot of questions which the Organique Basket team was quick to respond to. On Monday I received an email from the founder, Bahareh Zahedi, asking whether I preferred soft or hard kiwis. I was quite impressed with her desire to make sure that my family would love the basket. Although my basket was scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday, Bahareh emailed me once again asking if I would be okay with delaying the delivery until Thursday evening so that she could include the strawberries that were being freshly picked on Thursday morning. Yet again I was impressed. On the day of delivery, Bahareh emailed me to let me know that they were running a bit behind schedule and placed a mini watermelon and lettuce as an apology. These little things make all the difference to customers like myself. Needless to say, I am very pleased with Organique Basket and will be placing more orders in the future.
Be sure to check out Organique Basket for an updated list of available items, and additional information on how to place an order.
